“THERE ARE NO CLOSED ARCHIVES, WE HAVE TO WORK”

Yet in 2012 we prepared and published a three-volume collection of documents “Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire: evidence of survivors”, which includes the evidence of miraculously saved people about massacre and genocide by Turkish authorities in their settlements in 1916-1917. The book has received a great response among the readers of both Armenia and the Diaspora, even in Turkey. Even Turkish historians asked me to organize the publication of the collection in the Turkish language. Recently the Turkish translation of the book was published in Istanbul by the publishing house of Turkish human rights activist Zaqep Zakaroglu. The book will be translated also in Russian, French, Spanish and other languages.

I AM PROUD THAT WE HAVE SUCH AN ARMY!

The National library of Armenia always provides military units with literature. This time was the turn of the Noyemberyan military unit of Tavush district. On bibliobus we visited the regiment. The soldiers met us with joy and with interest, and helped to take out of the bus 718 books, 200 of them were provided by director of the book-shop “Bookinist” Khachik Vardanyan.

BELLS OF SARDARAPAT AND COVENANT OF ARMENIAN SACRED BRAVE-MEN

The year of 1918 could be year of death for the Armenian nation if by God’s will would not happen “the miracle of Sardarabad”.
On May 21, 1918 the Turkish army occupies the station and village of Sardarapat, creating a direct threat to Yerevan.
The Armenian regiments which left to the enemy the whole Western Armenia and Kars district almost without resistance, could not retreat any more. They had to either accept the battle with determination to win, or pass the enemy the remaining last handful of soil of the Homeland.

The visit of EU High Commissioner Catherine Ashton to Iran, her visit of the Armenian Church and Genocide Museum in Isfahan spawned a great wave of protest in Iran’s Azeri-populated regions. However, I think, this is a sign which shows that Iran is with us.

«...THE WAR WILL COMPLETE IN BAKU...»

The General who is more popularly known with his honorable name Commandos, 22 years ago led the liberation fights of the city of Shoushi. The operation, called «Wedding in the mountains», without hesitation can be attributed to a number of the best combat operations of the Armenian liberation war.

– Before the Great Patriotic War the population of Armenia was 1mln 320 000. 600 000 of them fought in combat fronts of GPW.
– In GPW years 106 Armenians were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.
– 27 soldiers and sergeants are Cavaliers of Glory of three degrees.

HE SAID – WE'LL TAKE IT

In the days of Shoushi liberation there were no armaments, no food, 200 reservists were waiting for weapons of their perished friends to go to battlefield, says General Arkadiy Ter-Tadevosyan: «There was no Stepanakert any more, «Grad» was bombing each square meter. The city was dieing, and there was no difference for them – to die today or tomorrow? To take Shoushi – that was the task of life and death for the Artsakh people. My people, my commanders «forced» to take such a decision. I was subordinate to Defense Committee of Serge Sargsyan. I asked him – shall we take? He said – we take!»
