POLITICAL DEVELOPMENTS IN SYRIA AND ARMENIANS

On the opinion of Arabist Nelli Mouradyan, power change in Syria would not result in country’s democratization. Quite the contrary, most probably the Islamists will come to power and chaos would begin in the country.
Today the law guarantees national minorities rights and there is a religious tolerance atmosphere in the country, but in case the Islamists come the attitude towards national and religious minorities would sharply deteriorate. Already now in some places the Islamists utter threats towards Armenians saying: “You came here naked and today you keep us as labourers”.

THIS SHOULD BOTHER NOT ONLY ARMENIANS

On the opinion of military expert Artsroun Hovanisyan, after 1994 ceasefire Azerbaijan spent at least 10 billion dollars on armaments purchase, not counting the expenses on military industry. However on this money it purchased basically armaments with life duration of maximum 20-25 years which after some time will become scrap metal. After the Armenian army military parade on September 21st it became evident that Azerbaijan’s attacking potential not only does not have advantage with respect to potential of Armenia but is inferior to it.
