I AM ARMENIAN OF 21ST CENTURY!

Short film of the All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography student Aspet Shermazanyan “Do not steal!” was presented at the 12th International Film Festival “Golden Apricot”.

– The biggest advantage of our people is that we do not stand in one place, always we strive for the maximum, do not stop. It is about an Armenian-creator. But the biggest drawback is – tolerance of negative phenomena. If we have lived for centuries under the yoke of others, or in a foreign country, and strived to improve ourselves in order to survive in the competition and retain our national character, not to assimilate, but unfortunately at the same time we have acquired tolerance to harmful negative phenomena.

My film is called “Do not steal!” It is the eighth commandment of the Bible – do not take what belongs to someone else. I tried to compare this commandment with the Armenian proverb: “A thief stole from a thief, God got surprised.” The film is with humor and with meaning.

My plan is also to make a movie about the hero of our time. Who is he? Of course, he is the soldier who stands on the border. I want to choose a simple village boy. His roots are in his native land, weapon – in his hands.
