INNOCENT VICTIMS FOR THE COVETED SEAT

On February 26, 1992 Khojaly was liberated

For nearly a quarter century Azerbaijani propaganda is trying to prove to the world that the Armenians organized massacre of Azerbaijanis in Khojaly.

But what really happened?

In Khojaly, mainly inhabited by displaced Meskhetian Turks, was the only aeroprot that connected Artsakh with the outside world. Using the favorable location of the city and proximity to Stepanakert, Azerbaijanis day and night were conducting a continuous fire on the capital of Artsakh. The destruction of these firing points the Karabakh troops have taken on February 26, 1992. According to independent observers and journalists, the Armenians before storming, being guided by the Geneva Conventions, through the loudspeakers requested the inhabitants to leave the city in order to prevent innocent victims. Because of this and other published truthful materials Azerbaijani journalist Eynullah Fathullayev is still out of freedom.

In the early 1990s in Azerbaijan there were two political forces: pro-Russian former communists, led by President Ayaz Mutalibov and pro-Turkish opposition party “Peoples Front of Azerbaijan” (PFA, the founders: Abulfaz Elchibey, Isa Ghambar).

Mutalibov tells: “As the rescued residents of Khojaly told, these bloody actions were provoked by the opposition for a coup in Azerbaijan. I.e. there were forces, who deliberately maim the bodies of people, to use those horrible pictures against me for political purposes.”

In fact, representatives of the PFA in Agdam deliberately misinformed Khojaly residents and local retreating military groups, and sent them to the Armenian village of Nakhichevanik instead of Agdam. As a result of clashes with the forces of self-defense of the village and losing a few dozen people, Azerbaijanis flee to Agdam. And just near Aghdam mass massacre of Azerbaijanis was conducted.

Studies of independent sources show that in the dark Azerbaijani soldiers either confused their soldiers and civilians from Khojaly with attacking Armenians and opened heavy fire on them or, more likely, deliberately destroyed them, then to use the corpses for their own political purposes.

In 2014 Mutalibov stated: “As the survivors of Khojaly say, it was all a trick to demand my resignation. I do not think that Armenians who are very precise and operate practical in such situations, could allow such fascist actions and put in the hands of Azerbaijanis such a fact. If Armenians provided a corridor to them, why they had to shoot?”

One thing is certain, the culprits for the innocent victims of Khojaly are those who have received the coveted presidency, and their puppets.
