LACK OF MORALITY: WE ARE ALL TO BLAME

Interview with writer and publicist Rouben Hovsepyan

– Recently we have a lot of pride in our army, that it is an established structure. However, it seems to me that we very much look forward to the army. Developing societies ought to think about the harmony of all spheres. It’s not possible to consider the army as established structure if one or another branch of the society is poorly developed. Every day I become an eyewitness to the glorification of the criminal world, thieves’ morals in the series, plays, books. How it happened that our people suddenly put all these at the very top of propaganda? My childhood was spent in the postwar years, when the conditions were much more difficult, but one of thousands chose this path. And no one boasted such people. On the contrary, they said – how did it happen that he turned away from the true path? Who is the hero of our time? Time creates a hero! If someone puts morals at the heart of his activities, he becomes a hero of our time, because today there is a demand for morality.

– What is the role of an intellectual, writer in the improvement of the society?

– My specialty is to reproduce thoughts and emotions. They can reach up to the reader, or they can not, but this is my profession. You can not demand anything from one! If everyone put their talents, their abilities to the service to achieve the objective, then our lives will change much. Because of our laziness, we do not see great people. This is also due to the rearrangement of values. We all need to change, to change the army. We must stand against street manners, low-grade cultural works, false moral values, if we want to have a strong army, a powerful society.
