ARMENIA DURING THE SECOND WORLD WAR



– Before the Great Patriotic War the population of Armenia was 1mln 320 000. 600 000 of them fought in combat fronts of GPW.

– In GPW years 106 Armenians were awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

– 27 soldiers and sergeants are Cavaliers of Glory of three degrees.

– In 1941-1945, 66 802 persons from our republic were awarded orders and medals of the USSR.

– In 1941-1945 more than 1000 women from Armenia were recruited to the Soviet Armed Forces.

– During the war 5 Armenian military units were formed – 89th, 409th, 408th, 390th, 76th which reached Balkans and Berlin form the Caucasian mountains.
