LOOSING SYRIA WILL MEAN FOR IRAN LOOSING STRONG “SUPPORT” IN THE MIDDLE EAST

Interview with Iran specialist Rudick Yaralyan

– Iran has a balanced position towards Syria. Syria for Iran – it is a country with a crucial meaning. Before these events Syria-Iran relations were developing almost in all directions: political, economic, religious-cultural etc. Loosing Syria for Iran will mean loosing a strong “support” in the Middle East, and this “support” gives possibility to be freer while mentioning its position towards Israel. Loosing Syria for Iran – it is a strike on the geopolitical interests of the country both in Iraq and Lebanon.

Official Tehran today does not loose its hopes from the promising geopolitical axis Iran-Iraq-Syria-Lebanon which is assumed to be based on energetic cooperation, and in future – on military-political cooperation. That’s why in Iran they can’t make it up with the conception on loosing Syria.
