On December 3rd, the day of the 50th anniversary of RA National Hero Movses Gorgisyan, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, AF GS Head General Colonel Youriy Khachatourov, Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, Gorgisyan family members, hero’s comrades-in-arms, Yerevan citizens visited Movses’s grave in Tsitsernakaberd and put wreaths and flowers there.

Movses Gorgisyan was the first yet during the Soviet period, to hoist the tricolour of independent Armenia in the Freedom Square of Yerevan on May 28, 1988. He was one of the first who mentioned the necessity to establish a national army, and was one of the first to implement that idea. Movses perished on January 19, 1990 during the fight in Yeraskhavan.

“We can state that Gorgisyan’s ideas today are implemented”, – told Defense Minister S.Ohanyan on a solemn function dedicated to the hero’s memory. Hero’s widow Rouzanna Gorgisyan stated that “in any war we shall win”.
