HERO-ARMENIAN WAS HONOURED IN RUSSIA



For RA Justice Colonel Vazgen Arakelyan the 21st of September, Independence Day, was а double festival. In Anapa (Russian Federation) he participated in a solemn ceremony dedicated to the heroes-liberators of that city. Among them was his grandfather, Hero of the Soviet Union Souren Arakelyan, who 68 years ago, on September 21, 1943 covered with his chest enemy’s machinegun’s tube at Kurbatskaya settlement.

Alexander Kocherga, head of Anapa administrative regions presented Vazgen Arakelyan, as a Guest of Honour and hero’s descendant, with Diploma and original copy of the RF President Dmitriy Medvedev’s Order “On Declaration of Anapa as a city of military glory”. A.Kocherga mentioned that “Armenians brought glory to the armies where they served”, and “the secret of Armenia’s eternity one should search in her son’s honesty, courage and faithfulness”.

In her turn Anapa Mayor Tatyana Nevsikova said that “Armenians have always proved that they are not only true friends but also are brave, selfless and have military talent”.
“The spilled blood of Souren Arakelyan and heroes like him strengthens more and makes indestructible Armenian-Russian friendship”, – said Nevsikova.
