PERMANENT EXHIBITION WAS OPENED IN RIGA, DEDICATED TO THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE

On the blessing of leader of the Diocese of Russia and New Nakhichevan of Armenian Apostolic Church, Archbishop Yezras Nersisyan on May 18, in the territory of the ghetto of Riga and the Holocaust Museum a permanent exhibition on the Armenian Genocide was opened.

The exposition was created by joint efforts of the Riga ghetto, Baltic International Centre for Tolerance, representation of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the Baltic countries, the Armenian community of Latvia and the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute. This work has facilitated by representative of the Armenian community, businessman Mkhitar Mkhitaryan.

Director of the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute Hayk Demoyan handed a Medal of Franz Werfel to the Riga Ghetto Museum, and philanthropist Mkhitar Mkhitaryan was awarded a gold medal of Nansen.

The cultural program included opera singer Lilith Yedigaryan, violist Maxim Novikov, violinist Grigor Sargsyan, artist of duduk Gevorg Karapetian.

The audience was given the translation of the book by Chris Bokhjalyan “Girl of sand castle” in the Latvian language, “The History of the Armenian Church” by Archbishop Mekhak Ormanian, other souvenirs devoted to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
