OUR ARMY’S STRENGTH: RELIABLE INFORMATION

“Prod in the bag can not hide” – proverb

Sometimes, there are opinions from the “experts and reliable sources” of different levels that our society is not given complete information about the armed forces of Armenia, is not informed of all incidents, emergencies, hiding the real number of dead and wounded.

But what happens in reality? First, the simple truth – it is impossible to hide the truth from the people, especially in this age when information spreads very fast through different sources: the telephone, the Internet, social networks. Do not forget also that we live in an open society, in a country with democratic values, where many people will not tolerate violence and restrictions.

These “sources” justify their position on the fact that the army is a closed structure. Yes, it’s true, but it is closed in the first place for the enemy. It is closed in the sense of preventing the publication and dissemination of data on military equipment, tactical capabilities, etc. The army is open to the public, and that’s a fact. Today about 300 non-governmental organizations are cooperating with the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Armenia, whose representatives regularly visit military units, and check the conditions of service of military life, the quality of food, health.

Simple and clear operation in the first place is beneficial to the Ministry of Defence. And critics are advised to follow closely the developments in the neighboring country. It’s a well-known fact that according to the adopted there law, it is strictly prohibited to disseminate information on the activities of the armed forces in the border areas, the wounded and dead soldiers, emergencies. Those who break the law are subject to criminal liability: the facts are numerous.
