WE OWE YOU, THE BRAVE HEROES …

During the Artsakh war near the Armenian volunteers fought also women. One of them is Angela Nanagulyan (from Jraberd). In 1992 she joined the volunteers group “Maghavuz”. Angela is a Chevalier of “For Courage” medal, a member of the Writers’ Union of Nagorno Karabakh Republic.

– There was a fierce war period, – recalls Angela Nanagulyan, – many left Martakert. My both brothers were fighting in different directions. After my brother was killed (during self-defense fight for Martakert) I secretly took weapon from home and went to commander of Maghavuz group Grisha Badalyan: “Take me to your group, I want to take revenge for my brother”.

When I met with “Yerkrapah” volunteer group’s commander Onik Khachatryan and inquired about the only fighter-woman (Angela fought also in this group for a long time), he said: “I’ve never seen the ladle in her hands, she has always been in the field of battle, always at the front line”.
