Recently a solemn ceremony was held on the occasion of the 18th anniversary of the formation of one of the RA AF military units and a separate artillery division. The military unit was formed on May 21, 1996 by order of Minister of Defence Vazgen Sargsyan. Colonel Mourad Kirakosyan, chevalier of 2nd degree “Battle Cross” was appointed as the first commander.

According to Presidential Decree on February 22, 2000 Combat Banner was transferred to the regiment. On the occasion of the anniversary Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan, RA AF GS Head, Colonel General Youriy Khachatourov, high-ranking militarymen, members of Parliament, representatives of regional and municipality authorities visited the regiment. The Minister and Ararat marzpet (head of Ararat region) participated in the opening ceremony of the sports complex on the territory of the regiment.

As regiment commander, Colonel A.Ohanyan (“For combat services” medal holder) mentioned, Major General Andranik Makaryan, Major General Alexan Alexanyan, Major General Komitas Mouradyan, Colonel Romik Margaryan, Colonel Sedrak Sedrakyan etc. passed important and crucial period of their service in this regiment

By order of Minister a group of servicemen – officers, contractors, conscripts, liberation warriors as well as civilians who cooperate with army structures, were awarded for high performance in combat training, conscientious service, exemplary military discipline, significant contribution to the construction of the army.
