It is not possible to revalue the role of engineering troops. In time created fortifications, barriers, other constructions sometimes have decisive meaning for the process and completion of military operations. Effectiveness of the arms work can be very high in mountainous conditions when there are no wide possibilities for the attacking side’s advancement, and natural and artificial fortifications make defense more reliable and at the same time allow to create unseen traps.

In the last 15 years with the forces of field engineer regiments special programs are being realized in the zone of contact with the enemy – defense constructions are being created, the already existed constructions are being improved.
The leader in the arm is the regiment under the command of Colonel Ashot Ghazaryan, which was considered “The best engineering regiment” last year and was awarded with transitional flag.
